Candidate.— The Social Credit Political League’s candidate for the Stratford electorate is Mr H. Hartwell, aged 30, an electrician, of Wanganui.—(P.A.)
Withdrawal.— Mr E. M. Williamson, of Ikawai, has announced his withdrawal as a candidate for the Oamaru seat at the General Election. He was to have stood for the Liberal Reform Party. “Now that the Government has legally guaranteed that there must be a woolgrowers’ referendum before the wool marketing corporation can bring in compulsory acquisition of wool, I will no longer campaign on this issue,” he said in a statement. —(P.A.)
