Wool down again

Merino wool fell in price by 20c to 25c per kilo at both the Geelong and Portland sales today, when the intense competition of a few days ago was not in evidence. Compared to yesterday’s closing prices, comeback and crossbreds were down 10c to 15c, and cardings were 20c lower, at Portland, where 88 per cent of the 5300 bales on offer was cleared to the trade, and 12 per cent went to the Australian Wool Commission. Similar falls in prices were recorded at Geelong.
