New 21 ft Yacht
lan Franklin, Ltd, is manufacturing a new 21foot trailer sailer that should give any yachting enthusiast the urge needed to make plans for the coming season. The boat is 21ft over-all, 7ft 6in beam and carries a total working sail area of 200 sq. ft. Construction is moulded fibreglass, with a balsa core in the deck. The interior is as luxurious as any high-class caravan with all modem accessories, such as a cimballed cooker, ice box, sink unit, fresh water supply, toilet, carpet, full length bunks with 3in foam squabs and colourful vinyl lined interior. The boat is self-righting in the event of a knockdown. The centre board weighs 5001 b and is easily operated, making it possible for any member of the family to raise or lower it. The centre case is totally enclosed, making it safe and dry; a drop-leaf table is mounted each side.
The cockpit is Bft long, giving ample room for six people to sit in comfort. Nine-inch side decks give good footing for the crew to work round. A forward hatch and anchor-well finishes off the foredeek and blends in nicely with the
mahogany sheer strake and trim. There will be four boats racing in Canterbury by Christmas, with another six before the end of the season. Order inquiries have come from all over the country and as far afield as Japan. FuH production is due to start early November and an expected two boats a month will be turned out.
