RANDOM REMINDER
TASTES
Each to his own, they say, and each to his own it usually is. Somewhere in the vastnesses of North Canterbury a farmer wished to sell a property. Presumably, it was just one of several in his possession. He had considerable difficulty in interesting anyone in its purchase. This was probably
because the farm did look just a little run-down. Some would have said derelict. And if antiquity sometimes has charm, many see only the ugliness. Particularly those thinking about going on to the land. The farm remained unsold for a long time, slowly deteriorating the while. The owner became desperate, and decided to
refurbish it a little to arouse purchasing interest. In front of the farm house he erected a splendid new fence, all shining with paint. Within a week, the farm had been sold. The new owners moved in. Their first action was to take the fence out. They said it spoiled the look of the place.
