New youth hostel

Youth hostel members from throughout New Zealand will assemble in Queenstown this week-end for the fortieth anniversary celebrations of the founding of the Youth Hostel Association in New Zealand. Combined with the celebrations will be the opening of a $70,000 hostel in Queenstown by the Minister of Tourism (Mr Walker). The new hostel can accommodate 50 persons and has been so designed that during week-days and other periods when it is not required by association members it can be used by school parties and other youth groups on field parties. As part of the anniversary celebrations, a special dinner will be held on Saturday evening and sight-seeing trips and barbecues will be held over the rest of the week-end.
