MacLEOD INQUIRY

‘No action’ by Govt (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 16. No Government action was required as a result of the report of the commission of inquiry into the dismissal of Mr Alexander MacLeod as editor of the New Zealand “Listener,” the Prime Minister (Mr Marshall) said today. Mr Marshall said that the report was discussed at the Cabinet meeting this morning, and he hoped it could be released soon. It would be released as soon as sufficient copies were available. He would not comment on the findings of the report, saying that it was better that they should come out when it was made public. But in reply to a question on whether the report had any recommendations that required action by the Government, he said it did not.
