TROTTING Marius wins easily at Greymouth

(From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH. Marius followed his win in the Lordship Handicap at Motukarara on October 7 with an easy win over the favourite Al Mundy in the Victoria Park Free-For-All at Greymouth last night. His Highbank ownertrainer, J. C. Nordqvist, allowed him to drift to second last just after the start and he stayed there until starting the last half mile. Al Mundy was just in front of him, and Marius followed him as he set out after the pacemaker, Bambi, which was being challenged by Mighty Chief. Bambi was beaten with about two furlongs left and Mighty Chief was soon clear. However, Al Mundy mastered him with ease and had control before. the straight entrance. Al Mundy began to shorten stride soon after and Marius raced past him easily to win

Jason McCord, the most widely tra- | veiled horse in the race in j recent weks, did well to fin-J | ish third, only a neck away. ; He broke after a furlong and looked to be out of the race racing to the straight. Waterloo, which looked a danger till he broke on the home turn, made a renewed bid for fourth but he was four lengths back, followed by a sadly beaten lot.
