New president of Red Cross

Mr D. G. Whyte, chairman of the Wellington Stock Exchange, has been appointed the new president of the New Zealand Red Cross Society, He succeeds Mr E. Button, who has retired. A former chairman and treasurer of the society, Mr Whyte has travelled overseas extensively on Red Cross business during the last eight years.

The new chairman is Mr A. W. Beasley, of Wellington. Other officers elected to the executive at the annual council meeting recently were: Messrs C. R. Clayton (Hastings), T. E. Davey (Poverty Bay), A. B. Duncan (North Canterbury), J. C. Hepburn (Waikato), R. Mackenzie (Southland), I. J. Templeton (Otago), J. A. Wilson (Hutt Valley), Mesdames G. F. L. Dillon (Marlborough), J. M. Isherwood (Hutt Valley). H. A. Nation (Central Hawke’s Bay), Dr A. F. Hunter (Auckland), and the Very Rev. G. Yates (Nelson).
