Paper mill expansion (N.Z. Press Association! TAURANGA, Oct. 13. Expansion of the Tasman Pulp and Paper Company’s mill at Kawerau is expected to boost the company’s overseas earnings by more than s32m to about ss6m.

The company’s deputy public relations officer (Mr M. P. Wickham) said that virtually all the increased output from the expanded pulp and newsprint mill is destined for export. Large scale expansion of the company’s mill, costing nearly sBm should be complete early next year, and installation of a third newsprint machine will probably be carried out in late 1974 or early 1975. Mr Wickham said the quantity of sulphate pulp available once the expansion programme is completed will be increased from 105,000 to 160,000 tons a year. The third newsprint machine will increase the company’s production of newsprint by 130,000 tons a year to 345,000 tons a year, Mr Wickham said.
