QUIETER TRADING ON MIXED NEW ZEALAND MARKET
Turnover was lower, but above average, in mixed trading on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday. The index showed a small rise.
The retailers were mixed, with Beaths up Ic, H.B. 5c and Haywrights 2c. However, Milne’s slumped 5c to 52c after the reported loss and D.1.C., F.T.C., and McKenzies eased. Brambles-Burnett was 3c higher at 143 c and Freight? ways advanced another 3c to 268 c. New Zealand Insurance firmed 2c to 354 c, but National was down 10c at 515 c. The Henderson and Pollard shares, which rose 45c to
270 c in Auckland on Thurs-! day fell 12c to 258 c yesterday. “I have no knowledge of j any reason for any move-i
ment in our shares,” said the chairman (Mr C. Pollard). N.Z. Cement new was down 1c at 134 c after Thursday’s strong rise of 13c.
