Avenger GLS

The GT model of the Hillman Avenger which has been sold in Britain for some time has now been replaced by a model called the Avenger GLS. The car has a twin-carburettor version of the 1498 c.c. Avenger engine that gives a top speed slightly short of 100 m.p.h. Acceleration to 60 m.p.h. takes less than 13 seconds, the makers say, and standard fittings include a heated rear window, clothcovered seats, a tachometer, power-assisted brakes, and wide radial-ply tyres.
