SOCIETIES UNITE
After lengthy negotiations the Murray Grey Society of New Zealand and the New Zealand Grey Beef Society have agreed to amalgamate and the combined body will be known as the Murray Grey Society of New Zealand. The Murray Grey Society has 130 members and with the amalgamation of the two societies the total membership will be about 150. As a result of the negotiations Mr R. W. Luscombe. of South Canterbury, has
been appointed to the coun-1 cil of the Murray Grey I Society of New Zealand. With the very strong’ overseas interest in purebred Murray Grey cattle.! and the widespread interest, in commercial Murray > Greys in New Zealand, it I was felt that the breed should be administered by the one organisation. It has been decided that to keep pace with modem requirements of evaluating sires for use in artificial breeding, a comprehensive progeny test will be run this season. The secretary of the combined societies will be Mr J. F. Brown, of Masterton.
