CARPENTER REPORT
Labour Party's policy (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 12. A Labour government would immediately implement the necessary recommendations of the Carpenter Report on nursing education, the party’s spokesman on social welfare. Mr N. J. King (Birkenhead) said today. In a statement criticising "Government waffling” on the report, Mr King said that nurses were becoming increasingly dissatisfied. The validity of the New Zealand Nurses’ Association’s claim for immediate reform in nursing education was unassailable, he said. The office of the Minister of Health (Mr AdamsSchneider) indicated today that the Committee on Nursing Education had reported back, and its report was being considered by the Government. The committee was established by the Minister of Education (Mr Pickering). A joint statement is expected soon from Mr Pickering and Mr Adams-Schneider.
