Marc Bolan of T. Rex has indicated in a London interview that the group may tour Australia, New Zealand and Japan. Although no date was mentioned, it was thought the visit may take place in the near future. However, nothing has been heard from the local promoters.
Bolan used to spend £5OO a week on clothes, but even though he has now cut back his spending he still buys them in bulk.
He shys this is necessary because the clothes usually get ripped to pieces by fans during a tour. At one of the group’s concerts in Wembley Stadium, six bodyguards were used to get T. Rex out of an armour plated car. # * *
Canada has produced more talented artists than it is usually given credit for. With big money and more opportunities available in the United States, Britain and Europe, most of the Canadians are lured away from their homeland.
Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen and David Clayton Thomas are some of the Canadians who have made a name for themselves abroad.
Cohen, who is probably the best known Canadian in Europe, still spends a lot of time in Montreal, and Joni Mitchell has just built a house in Canada, which she refers to as a “solitary station.” 3: sfr :jc
