Straight favoured at Waipukurau

"The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON. After hl* two good races et Hasting* last week Straight look* to have a great chance of winning the P. F. Wall Memorial, first leg of the T.A.B. concession double at Welpukureu today. Straight only Just faded over the closing stages to run fifth on the first day and then on the second day. in the Lowry Handicap, he battled on for a handy fourth. Today’s field is not nearly as strong, and even though be has drawn 12 Straight’s chances look bright. Straight, which is trained at Bulls by M. Andrews, will be ridden by his regular rider. J. Messent, Gog’s form looks most useful and he seems likely to give Straight most opposition. He has not won this season but he has been running close. At his most recent attempt he was second to Onclde at Hastings. Gamerullah, having his second start this term, looks ready for a bold race. He was third, behind Onclde and Gog at Hastings and has shown considerable promise in a limited campaign. 31111 Court should take beating In the Flying Handicap, second leg of the main double. Forewarn, the closest of fifths at Otaki, looks certain to run close again, and Richman, a good third at Hastings, and the consistent Goldy Girl also look leading hopes.
