Cheaper training facilities offered
CJV.Z. Press Association) SYDNEY. Mr S. Fox. one of Australia’s wealthiest racehorse owners, has decided to open his private stables to outside horses, and he will charge less than the normal fee. His two mammoth stabling blocks at Rosehill can house 105 thoroughbreds at the one time. Mr Fox has instructed his trainer. J. Denham, to take in between 20 and 25 horses for
outside clients who want to taka advantage of the wealthv owner’s offer. Mr Fox wifi charge $47 a week for each outside horse. His decision will bring a storm of controversy among trainers. The champion trainer, T. Smith, has increased his training fees from $49 to $6O a week for each horse because of increased labour costs. Other trainers have found that they must increase their fees to at least $5O a week, yet few if any can provide the facilities available at the Fox establishment. •*I have costed my stable expenses following the lastest stablehands* award.” Mr Fox said yesterday. *T consider that $47 a week for each horse will cover all expenses, except veterinary fees. The $47 will bf inclusive. The owner will not have to pay' for any rugs, bridles or saddles used on his horse. And with my private laboratory there will be no pathologist’s fee for blood count* “The Australian Workers’ Union officials recently Inspected my stables and said I had the perfect training set-up.”
