CATERING PROVIDED
The Conference Room in the Town Hall should prove an obvious attraction to those organisations and companies thinking about holding a conference or convention in Christchurch. The Conference Room, of 2500 sq. ft, has a capacity of about 250. "Classroom” seating can accommodate up to about 300, should this be necessary. The use of this room will not be restricted to conferences. Small business and informal gatherings, weddings and other social functions can be held here. The Conference Room will also be served by the caterers. A section of the room can be partitioned off. This means that food can be prepared and laid on the tables in one area, without interrupting any business sessions.
The “false” wall will also enable a wedding ceremony to be held on one side, and the wedding breakfast on the other. The room is within easy reach of the Limes Room and Cascade Restaurant. A Christchurch firm, Convention Consultants, Ltd, has been recently formed. The company’s aim is to promote the city as a venue for conventions and it hopes to use the Town Hall conference facilities as a key factor in its national and international publicity. The company plans to work in conjunction with the Town Hall management.
Publicity material sent throughout New Zealand and overseas by the Town Hall management and the private company will feature the new complex as an excellent site for a national or international conference.
