Lord Longford sees ‘Hair’

(N.Z Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON, Sept. 27. The British campaigner against pornography, Lord Longford, took his wife to the theatre last night, to see the nudes, and to hear the rude words, in the musical, “Hair.” The peer whose controversial commission on British pornography criticised the show last week, commented afterwards: “I don’t think there is any need for the one scene with nudity, or for the constant use of a four-letter word. No need at all.” Lady Longford’s comment was: “Taken in context, I don’t think it was obscene.” During the performance. Lord and Lady Longford clutched flowers handed to them by the cast, but they turned down an invitation to dance on the stage at the end of the show.
