Search for prisoners
A number of Christchurch police and a dog patrol will today reinforce Marlborough district police in their search for the three Paparua prisoners who escaped last Friday.
Police believe the escapers are in the Marlborough district because a car taken from Christchurch has been abandoned in the area and another taken. A Holden car was missed a few hours after the trio escaped and was found on Tuesday in Hoon Hay with its number plates—DJ 4106 —missing.
A Mark I Zephyr, registered number AM 3693, was reported missing from Riccarton on Tuesday morning and found abandoned in Seddon yesterday. Another Mark I Zephyr, 1954, painted green and white, with the registration number AO 6341 is now missing from Seddon. If the missing cars are linked, police say the last car might have any of the missing pairs of registration plates.
