Appeal by Church

An appeal to improve and expand educational facilities in southern Asia will be held by Seventh Day Adventists throughout the world on September 30. The Church hopes to raise about $150,000 round the world. The last special offering for Asia amounted to $139,000, in December, 1969. One of the Church’s projects in the last 13 weeks has been the restoration of six Bangladesh villages. It has also been running sewing centres in the area.

“Every day is a disaster for millions of the illiterate, impoverished people of Bangladesh, Burma, India and Pakistan,” said the Rev. N. Peatey, the leader of the project. The Church has also planned a “Health Emphasis Week” from October 14 to October 21.

The Church sponsors drugprevention programmes, antismoking clinics, help for alcoholics, and nutrition classes.
