REVENGE SOUGHT
Auckland’s challenge (N.Z. Press Association) WHANGAREI. If any one man holds the key to the outcome of today’s Ranfurly Shield match between North Auckland, the holder, and Auckland, it is All Black half-back, S. M. Going. The Australians found him unstoppable in the first test last Saturday, and one of Auckland’s biggest problems will be to try to contain him. This will be North Auckland’s seventh defence of the shield since it won the trophy from Auckland 11 months ago. Auckland holds high hopes of gaining revenge. To do so, it must dominate the battle for possession, and even though the All Black lock, P. L. Whiting, is not playing, C. Kennings and A. Haden should give the challengers an advantage in the line-outs. Then Auckland's task will be to bring its potent threequarters, B. G. Williams, K. R. Carrington and D. Palmer, into play as much as possible.
