CAR OVER BANK

A man escaped with minor cuts and abrasions when the car he was driving ran down a steep bank about 300 yards on the Christchurch side of the Lyttelton Road Tunnel yesterday afternoon. Eric Gordon Geddis, aged 53, a port worker, of 108 Hampshire Street, Aranui, was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital, where his condition last evening was reported to be comfortable. Mr Geddis walked back up to the tunnel road shortly after the accident, which occurred about 3.50 p.m.
