Reply on M.P.s’ salaries

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 24. The Remuneration Authority has replied to the Government on Parliamentary salaries, and the Prime Minister (Mr Marshall), has referred the reply to the Opposition caucus. Mr Marshall said today that when he heard the view of the Opposition caucus he would be in a position either to proceed or, if there was a difference of opinion, to refer it to a joint committee.

Tile Government Statistician reported some weeks ago that Parliamentarians were entitled to an increase of 11.3 per cent, but the matter was referred to the authority before a decision was made.
