Davis out, Elder in

The Linwood half-back, B. F. Elder, who has played only eight games for Canterbury in two seasons and a half, has had an unexpected chance to increase his tally by the withdrawal of the Canterbury vice-captain, L. J. Davis, from the Rugby team to play Otago at Dunedin tomorrow. Davis is confined to bed because of illness, and Elder, a faithful reserve for a long time, has been named as halfback. No decision has yet been made about the choice of another reserve back. Tomorrow’s match will be Elder’s third appearance for Canterbury at Dunedin in three years.
