Action over cartoon

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 23. The New Zealand Race Relations Council said tonight it would try to take action, under the Race Relations Act, against a cartoon published in today’s “Evening Post,” Wellington. The cartoon, drawn by Neville Lodge, followed the decision in Munich today to ban Rhodesia from the Olympic Games. Lodge’s drawing showed a heavily-featured Negro standing on the winner’s dais in the Olympic arena with right arm upraised and fist clenched in the Black Power salute. The word “Politics” was written on the front of his tracksuit. In the background a figure labelled “Rhodesia” was leaving the arena with head down.
