Club withdraws objection
An objection by the Russley Golf Club to the building of a factory for Sands Industries, Ltd, near the course boundary had been withdrawn after agreement had been reached with the company on fencing, planting, and the right to retrieve lost balls, a Waimairi County Council town ; planning sub-committee was told yesterday. The firm, which makes wire components for stoves, sought town-planning approval to build the factory and office of 5900 sq. ft at Sheffiield Crescent, in an industrial zone.
Mr G. L. Sands, a director, said that the factory would be surrounded by garden. There would be no noise because of the method of construction, and no smell, smoke, or waste products. The golf club was the only objector, and the company’s solicitor (Mr P. J. McAloon) said that as the agreement on the boundary had been reached, the club withdrew its objection. The sub-committee will make a recommendation to the council.
