Nine-wicket victory

Australia yesterday boosted its confidence for the coming one-day series against England by overwhelming Kent by nine wickets for the tenth victory of its present tour. A half-century by B. Francis helped Australia to finish the match before lunch after Kent was dismissed for 278 in its second innings. Scores: Australia 330/4 dec. and 64/1, Kent 139 and 278.
Boxing.— The World Boxing Council has announced a fight in Paris between J. C Bouttier (France) and E. Griffith (United States) will be considered an elimination bout for the world middle-weight championship. Women's basketball.—The New Zealand women’s basketball team Hutt Valley had the third win of its Australian tour when it beat Manly Warringah at Narrabeen. Hutt Valley won 62-48, after leading 27-22 at half-time.
