Firm sale for good wools
(New Zealand Press Association) INVERCARGILL, August 21. Prices for some lines at the Invercargill wool sale today were firm on those at the Timaru sale last week.
The market was very firm on bulky crutchings; fleece and skirtings were in buyers’ favour; and poorstyle crutchings and second crutchings were 2| per cent cheaper, said the official report. The main support came from the Continent and Australian carpet mills, helped by New Zealand carpet mills.
The offering was 31 per cent crutchings, 29 per cent fleece, 11 per cent secondshear, 7 per cent scoured wool, and the balance the usual oddments.
The crutchings showed the effects of three months of wet conditions throughout the district. Although some of the earlier shorn lines were of better colour, most of the crutchings contained light to heavy mud. The fleece, apart from the odd line showing unskirted
pieces, was generally well prepared. RANGE OF PRICES
