Manila ruling on Games

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter-—Copyright) MANILA, August 21. Filipinos will participate in the Olympic Games because of a Philippines Supreme Court ruling against an injunction aimed at preventing them from leaving the country. The injunction, filed by Legal Aid in Calamities and Disasters, a private organisation, claimed that because of the recent floods disaster it was inopportune to send a national team to Munich.

The Supreme Court ruled that the organisation had failed to show sufficient evidence of “grave abuse of discretion” on the part of the Olympic delegation. The Philippines team includes 54 athletes and 23 officials.
