Fire call led to accident

WELLINGTON, Aug. 13. A woman received multiple head injuries on Friday night when a car crashed into the back of the fire engine which had been called out by a malicious false alarm. The woman’s condition was today described as fairly satisfactory. The fire engine had responded to a 111 cal! that the doorway of the Social Security Building in Tory Street was on fire, and was parked outside the building.
Kitten event.—ln the pedigree Persian cat fanciers’ seventh national show, Ethsome Margareta entered by A. Pyne and Mrs Pyne, of Christchurch, was run-ner-up in the breed-type kitten class.—(P.A.).
