Otago tugs tenders

(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, July 25. A Hong Kong shipyard will build two steel tugs of revolutionary Schottel propulsion for the Otago Harbour Board. The board accepted the $997,000 tender of A. Fai Shipbuilding, of Hong Kong subject to approval of the New Zealand Ports Authority, the Local Authorities Loans Board and a Government decision on an import licence.

The lowest of three New Zealand tenders came from Sim Engineering, of Port Chalmers.

A. Fai offered a fixed price of $170,000 a hull for the two 2000h.p., 30-ton pull tugs, compared with the Port Chalmers tender of $378,769 subject to increases.
