SITUATION AT 8 P.M. A shallow depression is moving away to the north-east of the North Island; an anticyclone over the north-west Tasman Sea extends a ridge of high pressure on to the South Island and is moving east.
FORECASTS: Marlborough Sounds and KAIKOURA COAST.—Winds becoming moderate and variable. Fine; with rising temperatures. CANTERBURY, CENTRAL MA RIBBOROUGH, NELSON, BULLER and NORTH WESTLAND.—Moderate variable winds; some cloud but mainly fine; moderate day temperatures.
