LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

(1) Letters to be considered for this column must not exceed 150 words. They should be on only one side of the paper; preferably typewritten, otherwise clearly written in ink; and ample margins and space between lines should be left for convenience in sub-editing. (2) A legible signature and full address—not a P.O. box number — are required whether these are to be printed or not. (31 The correspondent must say whether the letter has been or is to be submitted elsewhere. (4) The editor cannot return or keep any letter not accepted for printing; nor does he undertake to acknowledge or enter into correspondence concerning letters, although an acknowledgment will be made where this seems to be necessary or helpful. (5) As a general rule, correspondence on news items in other publications, or carried on radio and television, is not acceptable.

O. Hughes.—But it is too late. A. C. R. Elderton.—Too long. See rules above. Not Fooled all the time.—Keep it for the election campaign. X.U.K.—More suitable for the election campaign. Fed-up Farmer. —The enclosure was not enclosed. Poor Student.—lt seems a modest annual outlay. Doubtful and Saratoga.—Their own opinions, and clearly attributed to them. Tahere Dansey.—No space to reopen recent correspondence on the subject. Margaret Collier.—Too diffuse a discussion to be useful; and you would reopen subjects recently closed. Adrian F. Faulkner. —We cannot spare further space for the problems at Porter Heights ski-field. Please Let Them Grow.—We have no doubt the council will try to do so But an appeal to the better feelings of vandals is rather pointless; they have none. Octogenarian.—Universal superannuation is still payable regardless of any other income accruing to the beneficiary; but the tax rebate formerly enjoyed by these beneficiaries was removed in this year’s Budget.
