Air drop mission

A Royal New Zealand Air Force Orion left Christchurch for Auckland yesterday after a supply mission to Campbell Island on Sunday. On the way back to New Zealand the aircraft dropped 501 b of fresh provisions to University of Canterbury scientists working on Snares Island, 60 miles south of Stewart Island. This was a last-minute request to the Air Force from the Zoology Department of the University of Canterbury.

Mr P. Matheson (Canter-bury-Westland) was elected president of the Young Nationals at their annual conference in Wellington.—(P.A.)
