Appeal commended

The Mayor of Christchurch (Mr N. G. Pickering) asked on Friday that Christchurch citizens give generously to 'the Braille Week appeal, starting today. “It is one appeal that must touch the hearts and pockets of those who can see,” said Mr Pickering. "It is through Braille that the blind are able to see. The Royal Foundation for the Blind is responsible for providing for the care, relief, education, and training of blind persons. I would, therefore, commend Braille Week, and ask the citizens of Christchurch to give generously.” he said.
