‘Evidence only to inquiry’

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 21. The setting up some time ago of a Board of Health committee on private hospitals has been criticised by the president of the Public Service Association (Mr S. J. Rodger). “The association had been considering making submissions to the committee but on reflection considers this would be improper,” said Mr Rodger. The P.S.A. was opposed to any further Government assistance being given to private hospitals just when a Royal commission had been appointed to inquire into all hospital and related services in New Zealand.

“We will present our evidence on private hospitals and on health services directly to the Royal commission, which is the only body properly constituted to receive it," Mr Rodger said.
