No mining in town The mining company Greenbushes Tin, NL, has dropped plans for mining tin within the Greenbushes townsite. A spokesman for the company said today that tests had shown it would be uneconomical to mine in the town. “We made some tests and found that the values did not warrant going on with the plan,’* he said. Gold in vanadium Gold has been found in a vanadium deposit being evaluated by Ferrovandium Corporation, NL, 280 miles east of Geraldton in Western Australia. The company’s managing director (Mr H. Ward) said the vanadium deposit at Barrambie is estimated to contain more than four hundred million tons of vanadiuaferous iron titaniabearing material. He said one diamond drill hole intersected one ounce of gold per ton of of ore over 12 inches between 612 feet and 613 feet and 2.4 per cent copper and 2.5 dtsi (two) of gold between 606 feet and 607 feet. Mr Ward, said gold should be easily recoverable in the Barrambie gravity concentration plant treating the screening undersize during the lump ore production. Joint venture Amad, NL reports that M.I.M. Holdings, Ltd, and Thiess Holdings, Ltd could earn an 80 per cent interest in claims involved in a joint venture with Amad NL in return for the expenditure of $200,0000 on exploration over two years. The joint venture covers 37 claims at Woodline Well, 20 miles from Laverton, Western Australia. Of four diamond drill holes drilled to date, one had made an intersection of nickel sulphide mineralisation, between 183.5 feet and 205 feet Between 193 and 195.5 feet mineralisation was 4.25 per cent nickel. Results are being assessed.
