N.Z. market tone remains easy

The tone of the New Zealand market remained easy with falls outnumbering rises by more than three to two yesterday. However, some good rises were shown.

Turnover was generally) higher but in the context of the market trend this is more bearish than bullish N.Z.M.C. joined the list of leaders which have suffered sharp falls in their share price recently. The scrip traded at a fairly steady level in opening sales but dropped sharply to lose 8c at 104 c on the day. Airwork made a spectacular rise of 21c. ex dividend, to 130 c. Auckland Gas rose 5c more to 118 c, while the 50c-paid shares closed the gap. Pye was actively traded rising 7c to 107 c. The recent rise in the price of Wilson. Neill was explained by the news of a one-for-six issue. On the announcement, the scrip rose 1c to 198 c. L and M Oil recovered 3c to 43c in an otherwise dull section.
