JETS ANNOY FARMER
rN.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, July 21. Skyhawk jets of the R.N.Z.A.F. are annoying Taranaki hili country farmers and their families. A Stratford county councillor, Mr G. L. Gower, of Kohuratahi, said today that the jets whistling low over farms were causing noise The Skyhawks, which often flew lower than 500 feet, probably used the district as a training area, said Mr Gower. "The shock on eardrums of a jet blasting through a narrow valley is tremendous,” he said. “My young children grip the ground and scream when they hear the jets coming.” Mr Gower said the jets sometimes weaved for three or more miles through the valleys on training runs. He had occasionally seen them flying below him while he was on top of a ridge during sheep mustering.
