CABLE-CAR CRASH.—Some of the wreckage of a cable-car which crashed after the brakes failed allowing it to career backwards to its base at Betten, Switzerland. The accident happened during high winds on the Betten-Bettmaralp slope which rises 5000ft in the Valais, near Zermatt. Thirteen persons died when the car hurtled at 60 miles an hour into the station.
