Waitaki Elect sold
Waitaki Elect, the winner of eight races and $15,775 in stakes, has been sold to a Western AustraUan stud by Mrs A. H. Munro (Otematata). The price, a fourfigure one, is believed to be a record for a New Zeatand-bred stallion. Waitaki Elect, a brother to Waitaki Hanover, is a rising seven-year-old by Garrison Hanover from Kid Dale. He showed outstanding form as' a juvenUe, his successes at three years including the Hororata Cup and the New Zealand Metropolitan Three-year-old Championship. He raced in Sydney the next season, and won the Four-year-old Stakes at Harold Park, pacing the mile in 2:4 2-5. He was trained for most of his racing by J. L. Behrns (Chertsey), and almost all has racing was in the interests of Mr and Mrs F. Smith (Timarn). who held him on lease. The sale of Waitaki Elect was negotiated by Mr P. B. Renneil, of the standardbred department of Wrighson N.M.A., Ltd. The horse will leave Christchurch today on his way to Adelaide, from where he WIU be transhipped to Perth.
