Awapuni hopes gallop well
"The Press” Special Service WANGANUI. The Kimbolton Stakes runners, Bish and Cobb’s Call, showed that they could win their respective divisions at Awapuni on Saturday with splendid trials at Wanganui yesterday. Trials took place against the running rail on the No. 1 grass, which was heavy. Bish ended two rounds of pacework with three furlongs in 39 l-ssec, working easily throughout. He has shown better than average ability in his two outings to date and could take beating in the first division on Saturday. Cobb’s Call went over six furlongs in Imin 22sec, coming from the half-mile in 54 2-ssec with Tainui, and shading his partner at the end of the last three furlongs in 41 2-ssec. Cobb’s Call was tangled by the heaving Trentham going last Wednesday, but his earlier efforts were sound. Velocette looking very strong in condition, carried the heavier weight yet still had Sharpley covered at the finish of five furlongs in Imin 6sec. the last three in 40 2-ssec.
