Ballins Industries, Ltd, will acquire the Caledonian Hotel, Wellington, in a move to consolidate the company’s Wellington interests. Ballins will acquire the Caledonian at the end of the month, from the present licensee (Mr S. V. Dunn). The hotel has been run by the Dunn family for more than 30 years. Ballins is established in the Wellington area with

wine and spirit merchants, W. H. Lee and Company, Ltd (Lower Hutt), and Stroud Bros, Ltd (Upper Hutt), and the Taita Hotel, as present trading subsidiaries. In a further move into the North Island, Ballins has taken possession of a wine and spirit merchant in Eketahuna.
