Holiday ' on the house’

Two Christchurch families who for the last 30 and 25 years respectively have spent their annual vacations at Pohara Beach, in Golden Bay, will have this year’s holiday at the beach as guests of the Pohara Domains Board.

They are the families of Mr T. Donaldson, of 11 Rountree Street, Ham, and Mr H. Hobson, of 50 Tilford Street, Wooiston. Mr Donaldson has brought his family the 351 miles to the beach for the last 30 years and Mr Hobson for the last 25 years. In Mr Donaldson’s case, he has travelled 21,000 miles in that time to Pohara Beach and return. The Donaldsons now take two sites at the camp — one for themselves and another for a son who now brings his family to the beach each year.
