The Waikato district committee of the Racing Conference last week approved recommendations made recently by a meeting of racing club secretaries in the district regarding barrier and qualifying trials and maiden races. From the beginning of the newj season on August 1, all clubs in the district will restrict maiden races to horses that have been placed second, third or fourth at a totalisator meeting, or which have qualified at trials.
