FAREWELL PARADE

Brigadier Kermode Units at Burnham Military Camp will hold a short parade early this afternoon to farewell the commander of the 3rd Infantry Brigade Group (Brigadier L. A Kermode), who will assume command of the Army’s Field Force Command at Auckland on August 1. At this parade Brigadier Kermode will present the Meritorious Service Medal to Warrant Officer S. F. Hill, the former All Black. The number of men holding this particular medal at any one time does not exceed 20. Another farewell function for the brigadier will take place in the station cinema at Burnham at 2 p.m. It has been arranged by men of the Ist Battalion Depot. Brigadier Kermode will present long service and good conduct medals to two members of the battalion. After the presentation a short concert will be given by the band of the New Zealand Army. These functions are among a number for Brigadier Kermode who, on Sunday afternoon, will review the march out of national servicemen from Burnham. At this parade the national servicemen will have as their guests about 20 crippled children.
