Badminton titles

Last year’s B grade men’s singles champion, D. Le Page (Railway), won the A grade reserve singles title with ease in the Canterbury Badminton Association’s new A reserve and B trade championship finals at kellerup Hall on Saturday evening.

Le Page beat an out of form T. C. Llew (University), 15-4, 15-6, and the women’s champion, Mrs M. Miller (Railway) won comfortably, 11-3. 11-3, against Mrs S. Goddard (Christchurch). The B grade men’s singles final betwen the usually reliable R. Stanton (University) and a 15-year-old Canadian, J. Anderson (Canterbury), gave promise of being the hardest-fought final. But Stanton, after leading In both games, was unable to control his errors, and Anderson won In two straight games, 15-7 and 15-11.

In the B grade women’s singles. Mrs N. Power survived a strong challenge by Mrs J. Germon to win in three games, 2-11, 11-7, 11-2. Results were: — A reserve Men’s singles.—Final: D. Le Page beat T.
