The Canterbury Water Polo Board decided at its annual meeting on Wednesday evening to hold junior competition matches in the coming season A sub-committee will be set up to organise the junior com I petitions, and Mr E. Tuyn. who i recently retired as senior I selector, will be asked to con venc it It is proposed the competition will be played on Saturday morn lings, possibly at schools, and the two divisions ya ill be under ‘ 15 and under 18. appear that existing pool charge* are not conducive to fostering ‘further competitions.’’ said Mr Scott “It is hoped that with the building of the Common (Wealth Games pool. our problem will be partly alleviated” REFEREES CRITICISED ■ Mr Scott criticised th* I refereeing at the national chain pionships at Otorohanga. “Both open and under 21* Canterbur teams played well, but could not shake off disadvantage* suffered [at the hands of certain referees, ’ said Mr Sc ott. “Sub sequent developments have j tended to back the assertion that the general standard of refereeing at these championships was deplorably low.” Mr Scott was nominated as I manager of the Neu Zealand schoolboys* team to tour Air itralia in December Mr T.
