Dog sold for $340
Prices ranged up to $340 at the sixteenth annual dog sale at Tinwald last week by Pyne, Gould. Guinness Ltd. The top price was received by H. R. Roxburgh (Amberlev) for a four-year-old heading dog.
Sales at $3OO were also made bv N. B. Fowler (Hanging Rock, ; Pleasant Point) for a six-year-old head ng dog and by E. J. Weir, of Mount Hutt, for a three years l and a half old heading dog and H. K. Barwell, of North Loburn, Rangiora. received $290 for a two vears and a half old heading dog. Twenty sales were made at $2OO or better.
! The entry was bigger this year [at 154 compared with 120 last I a ear and dogs came from as far afield as Blenheim and Oamaru, ] although most were from Canter- ’ bury.
Buyers were present from al! parts’ of the South Island and bidding was spirited throughout. Fifty-six per cent of the entry, or 86’ dogs, found buyers under the hammer for an average of almost $l3l. The total proceeds of the sale amounted to $11,262.
