Talks sought with P.M.

Actors’ Equity will ask for a meeting with the Prime Minister (Mr Marshall) and the Minister of Broadcasting (Mr Walker) in an attempt to rationalise its position with the N.Z.B.C.

Actors’ Equity has been holding talks with the N.Z.B.C. for two years, seeking formal recognition as the negotiating body for actors employed by the corporation. “At present in the corporation’s mind no such negotiating body exists,” Actors’ Equity said in a statement. “Performers are not fully represented, and their union is not recognised by their largest employer. This is a source of continual frustration.”
